Howell EFI, a recognized leading supplier of EFI and TBI systems for hot rods, muscle cars, and classic Jeeps and trucks, now offers multiple wiring harness kit options ideal for LS swaps into classic Range Rover and Land Rover SUVs. The LS swaps, popular because of their improved reliability, ease of maintenance, and added horsepower, are a growing trend for DIY and DIFM installers.
Howell EFI President Matt Howell, says, “The last couple of years we have seen a big uptick in LS swaps for Broncos, Scouts and now Range Rovers and Land Rovers. The pandemic gave people a bit more time to work on projects and an LS swap into these popular classic trucks is being tackled more. Too, these classics are being used more for off-road purposes. Our kits are designed to help make the process as seamless as possible. We encourage you to call and talk to our tech team before and after the purchase. Tell us about your project. We know the questions you should be asking, and we have made our harnesses, components, instructions, and videos to help you do this without surprises that can be a cause of aggravation for even highly skilled DIYers.”
The Howell EFI LS-1 and Gen III/Vortec truck wiring harness is designed for manual or non-electronic transmission and includes mechanical throttle linkage. Options are available for emission connections or fan wiring. The basic Howell LS-1 harness is a street rod type, stand-alone design, available with or without wiring for the electronic transmission and including all emission connectors so that it is legal in 50 states as a replacement harness. In the engine compartment, the main branch of the engine harness goes down the driver’s side with the main grounds attaching to the back of the LH cylinder head. This locates the harness on the engine. All connectors are labeled and will normally reach and attach only to their intended sensor. The camshaft and MAP sensors are at the back of the engine and the crank sensor is above the starter on the right-hand side of the block at the rear. Because Howell’s wiring harnesses keep all essential engine functions operating, this harness kit qualifies as a direct factory replacement for emission functioning per EPA and CARB for on-road use only.
Howell manufactures in the USA wiring harnesses for the entire GM LS Series including LSA, LST and LS9, LS7, LS6 and LS1, LS2 and LS3 engines. Popular requests are for either the LS1 or LS3 for 1969 to 1996 Range Rover Classics equipped with a 3.5L or 4.2L V8.
